I just (1-29-99) completed this one, in Peach Gold® and Palladium White, and will be sad to part with it. Commissioned by a lady for an anniversary present for her husband of twenty years.

[5X11, 18K gold] This five-by-eleven ring, with the very open weave, is the first real success of my ring-making career, and was, until recently, still in my personal collection. Like the humongous seven-lead ring shown elsewhere, it is somewhat uneven, but not nearly as obviously - perhaps it would've been better if it had been, since I might then have taken more care in tying the big one, which this one predates by a few months. The rings that I'm able to make now, though, are very even in their path, though there will always be enough variations in the process itself to make each one different. I like that factor when I make my rings, actually, and I suspect that even if I make a great many more of them, each will remain an individual entity, recognizably unique.

18K Yellow Gold (R-5-11)
Single Strand
5-lead 11-bight
Loop density: 4.3
(Size 11 shown)
Here's a pretty new one, a very fine 5 x 11 that was tied entirely in twisted strands. One of my co-workers needed a replacement for his wedding band, which he had imprudently dropped into a lake during a vacation swim, and he chose this one. I hated to let go of it, but at least I still have the picture.

You can see where I soldered it, just to the lower right of the center - the white strand goes through the intersection, crossing to the other side of the yellow strand, and continues around to the same point again. I rather like that method of terminating the ends, but sometimes I match all three across and end up with three equal lengths of wire in the knot, instead of having two with one twice the length of the other.

18K Yellow and White Gold (R-5-11)
Tripled Twisted Strand
5-lead 11-bight
Loop density: 4.5
(Size 10 shown)
All twisted 5 by 11 ring.
[5X9, 18K rose and white gold] This five-by-nine ring, in rose and white, was just recently tied and shipped to California, where it was given as a Valentine's Day present. (By someone else, to someone else. I should be so lucky!)

18K White and Rose Gold (R-5-9)
Single Twisted Strand, Doubled Solid Strand
5-lead 9-bight
Loop density: 4.2
(Size 7 shown)
This is an older one of my personal favorites, which I've recently got around to scanning again with new software. It appears elsewhere on the site, but not as attractively as in this shot.

18K Yellow Gold (R-5-11)
Single Twisted Strand, Doubled Solid Strand
5-lead 11-bight
Loop density: 4.5
(Size 10 shown)
All twisted 5 by 11 ring.
[5X6, 18K yellow and white gold] This five-by-six ring, in yellow and white, is an old ring that I gave to my niece for a wedding present. Notice that the weave is very long, and open - this ring is quite flexible, and the parts can be shifted around easily. The simpler knots are probably better for smaller rings, and if this were several sizes smaller it would approach the closer weave shown in the rings above.

18K White and Yellow Gold (R-5-6)
Single Yellow Strand, Doubled White Strand
5-lead 6-bight
Loop density: 2.8
(Size 7 shown)
